After completing a 4month sabbatical this spring I’ve come to realize that my days of traveling and exploring are now leading me in a new direction. While I no longer have a ‘business’ to tend to, I’m able to take advantage of this ‘free’ time and MOVE to Zambia Africa for the next year or More… I’ve been accepted to (www.beautifulgate.org) ministry and I look forward to becoming apart of their volunteer staff. I’ll be assisting and loving local orphans that mostly suffer from AIDS/HIV. Moving won’t be on the same caliber as traveling there was 8 years ago. It won’t be easy, fun or glamorous every day, but with God as my strength I know He’ll sustain me and provide for me emotionally, financially, physically, and spiritually.
We live in a world that tells us to fight for our own happiness, no matter the cost: “Live for yourself and your dreams will come true. Strive to be the best-to make the most money, to acquire the most power, etc”…
God calls out to all of us, even in the midst of our comatose state. Some of us can barely hear his voice, but he is calling nonetheless. He is asking us to “count everything loss for the sake of Christ” Philippians’ 3:7. I pray that my focus of life will be to see God’s great name lifted high in all of the earth, that all may see his glory and know that He is God.
Until I depart (Sept/Oct) I’ll be in the mid west preparing for the move. I’ve been enjoying the summer and all the new memories with my family. I’ve been blessed to live with my sister while since June babysitting and cherishing each and every minute with my nephew Calvin 2yr and niece Ruby 1yr. Calvin still deals with an auto immune disorder. With weekly/bi-weekly visits to Dr. Griffins they adjust his steroids according to his blood results (he is currently stable). Ruby is a one year old that is crawling and jabbering and trying to get a tooth or two… she is a late bloomer!:) My brother’s son Luke 4yr is a patient & helpful big brother to my other niece Brooke 3yr. Brooke looks for ways to give love away to humans, canines or felines. J My dad is still dealing with MS and has good days and bad days. While moms job is keeping ‘all of us’ in line… isn’t that what moms are for?
My family is anticipating my time in Zambia, and can’t wait to see how God will use me as a His tool day after day. We’ve lived apart for 6 years, and consider that training for what is to come.
I ask for your thoughts and prayers for not only me, but my family and future volunteer staff I’ll be working beside in Zambia. The paperwork/documents are under way, yet there are so many details to be worked out. I plan to have a ticket and residential VISA in the ‘near’ future. I also plan to send out another letter and photo via snail mail in the weeks to come with more information and details for this up coming move.
